Firefox OS

Just when I thought it was going to take a long time for HTML5 based apps on mobile devices to become widespread, along came Mozilla with the newly promised Firefox OS.

This new mobile operating system promises native support for HTML5 based on the Firefox browser we're all familiar with.

According to the official website, it is claimed that it is built entirely with HTML5 for HTML5, enabling developers to create (native) HTML5 apps that would perform better than their counterparts on other platforms such as Android or iOS.

This is a great step forward for the mobile industry, it also opens up the gates to as they said "A relatively untapped market". I'd personally wanna try it out and write applications for it!

On a final note, big players are already on board the Firefox OS wagon, giving it an initial boost in the market. Having that said, with the established players such as Google and Apple, we'll only have to keep an eye on the way the competition will go.

I don't really have more to say about this, if you have any enriching thoughts please do share them.
